Dear Mr. Trump!
Please go placidly amid the media noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
Without presumption be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your mind quietly and clearly, but listen to others first,
even to the queer, the seemingly ignorant and to foreigners;
we have our stories, too.
Please avoid loud and aggressive behaviour;
it is a vexation, not only to your spirit.
If you compare yourself to other statesmen,
you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be greater or lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your visions.
Please keep interested in your great country’s global responsibilities.
In the changing fortunes of time long-sighted US leadership will remain quintessential.
Exercise caution in your political affairs, for today’s world is a village but extremely complex.
But let this not blind you to what chances there are, too.
Many people in the world pursue high ideals;
and everywhere humans should enjoy freedom, economic stability & peace.
Please be a human first.
Accordingly, do not work with aggressive messages.
Neither be cynical about love and compassion,
for in the face of all crises and disappointments
these two virtues are as vital as water.
Please take the counsel of all members of society seriously,
thereby respecting everybody’s dignity and diversity.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune,
but do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of ignorance and inexperience.
Beyond the claim to take well-founded decisions be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive the Almighty to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace with your soul.
With all its national and global challenges,
it is still a beautiful world.
and strive to be a responsible President the world will remember favourably one day.
